Bioiberica, a Barcelona-based global life science company, has announced the return of The Collagen Symposium, which will be a live event at Vitafoods Europe 2025. The event will kick off on May 20th at 12:45 CET at the Conference Theater in Hall 5.

The panel discussion will feature top industry experts, offering new insights on the growing collagen market, debunking challenges facing supplement manufacturers and spotlighting key opportunities for innovation.

Bioiberica will also celebrate its 50-year anniversary at the exhibition. “This year is particularly special for us as we celebrate 50 years of scientific expertise, sustainable progress and world-class manufacturing of biologically-derived ingredients, and to mark this important milestone in our home city of Barcelona makes it even more meaningful”, says Antonio Vendrell, marketing and communications director at Bioiberica. “In the last half-century, we have grown to become the largest western producer of heparin, while also pioneering circular economy practices for more than 45 years. Our passion for science, sustainability and continuous advancement has fueled our journey so far, and we’re excited to see what the next 50 years of partnerships and discoveries will bring.”

The Collagen Conversation Takes Center Stage

After taking place for the first time last year, The Collagen Symposium is back, and will unpack findings from an industry survey of over 100 nutraceutical industry professionals.

The speaker line-up includes: Len Monheit, executive director of the Collagen Stewardship Alliance; Elizabeth Thundow VP management consultant at Kline & Company; David Foreman, pharmacist and natural health expert; and Daniel Martínez-Puig, Bioiberica’s head of R&D and human health.

The session will explore trends, scientific breakthroughs, and consumer preferences shaping the collagen category, including perspectives on the increasingly heated debate around “vegan collagen.”

At its booth, Bioiberica will let visitors put their knowledge to the test with an interactive collagen quiz, and a “low-dose coffee corner” featuring beverage prototype samples of the company’s Collavant n2 undenatured type II collagen.

Bioiberica will also showcase other branded ingredients and formulation concepts. These include its hyaluronic acid matrix ingredients – Dermial for skin health and Mobilee for joint and muscle support – and DAOgest for histamine intolerance.
